I might turn into one of those hiking junkies. Ive never been one to get really excited about hiking uphill for hours just to get to the top of a mountain. I get the beautiful view at the top and how rewarding it is but the PAIN. The agony of lugging your backpack and water in the summer heat! But good news!
Ive been changed! I have found the thrill of rugged hiking. I hiked the Precipice Mountain: a mountain for only experienced hikers. Its wicked rugged. The most rugged mountain in Acadia National Mountain and guess what? I hiked it and loved it- the chick who grunts at hiking.
Anyways! I live about 5 hours from Acadia National Park and I cannot believe I have never been there before. If youre an adventurer who lives an active life, do yourself a favor and visit this area.
MUST DOS:
Sunset at Cadillac Mountain (First state to see the sunrise)
Beehive Hike
Precipice Mountain (1000 feet up with ladders and rungs)
Sandy Beach (picnic, swimming, and relaxation)
Bike the Carriage Trails (MILES of old carriage trails to explore around lakes and through the woods)
CAMPING (Save your $$$ and be one with the wild)
Dinner and Drinks in fancy Bar Harbor
