My favorite city in the entire world? Buenos Aires! That’s right. I finally made my decision on my favorite city in the entire world! In San Telmo, the buildings are covered with colorful art, old colonial buildings, an antique markets on the weekends, and funky artsy clothing stores. In La Boca, experience the colorful buildings of Caminito, tango dancers in the streets, and artists selling their masterpieces. Throughout the entire city people are shopping, drinking mate, and relaxing at outdoor cafes. The best part of all is that musicians perform everywhere and anywhere in Buenos Aires! Here is where people eat dinner at 10pm and don’t come home from a night of partying till 8AM! If you like to people watch then you’re in luck. Argentineans are absolutely gorgeous! Seriously, this is the only city so far that I can imagine myself living in besides my lovely north shore city in Massachusetts.
Must do’s:
-Sleep at my top favorite hostel: Hostel One (www.hostelone.com)
-Shop in Palermo Viejo (On Sundays, the bars here shut down for funky local designers to sell their clothes!)
-Shop on trendy Florida Ave
-Browse around San Telmo's antique market
-Dance the night away at their bouncing dance clubs!
-Drink the beer Quilmes & buy a Quilmes t-shirt
-Don’t leave without eating steak or empanadas
-Tenedor Libre Buffet (Avenida de Mayo) All you can eat buffet for cheap!
-Evita’s Museum (I’m not one for museums but I enjoyed this)
-The Recoleta Cemetery
-Stay on top of local events (new exhibits and theater)
-Take a walk in Palermo’s parks
-A day trip to the beach in Mar del Plata
-A ferry ride to Uruguay for the weekend
