My Slovakian friend Tina turned 20 while we were in Budapest.
We had to take her to club Instant, a place we’d discovered the night before while halfheartedly barhopping. It’s ability to meld art/drinking/dancing hooked us, and we came back on several more occasions.
The second incarnation of the space, Instant is a club made up of a number of rooms, all curated differently- some are small art galleries (graffiti/street style), the bar is off in the corner and a live music room throbs from the basement. A central, high ceiling’d atrium unites them all in the center, with plenty of seating and low hanging plants interspersed between the colorful lights.
The crowd is mainly smooth Euro-types, with a few tourist bros mixed in and ordering watery absinthe. The music, during the three nights I was there, alternated between dub/ska/hiphop and trancey electronica.
Overall, it’s easy to find, (near the Okatagon stop) and it makes having fun easy too.
