Seeing the Pyramids of Giza is something I had always dreamt about but never REALLY believed would come true. With some convincing on my part (and begging!), I was finally able to grab my boyfriend and see the most majestic thing I could think of - the PYRAMIDS!!
It was a dream come true: I was going to ride a camel around the pyramids in the Sahara desert with my long hair whipping in the air...
Wait a second.. there is a parking lot in the middle of the pyramids?! The pyramids are next to a hotel complex? This just couldn't be true! This dream that I had as a child was finally happening, and yet the beauty of it all was slowly diminishing. National Geographic fails to tell you about the local surroundings of the last standing remaining Wonder of the World; they also fail to tell you about the trash lingering around the desert, and the peddlers that are following you around for your money.
The Pyramids you ask? They are amazing. It is the location, the maintenance and the surroundings that I could have done without.
